Introduction

Mundare School is in the town of Mundare and has 23 staff members serving 170 students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8. The school features a full-size gymnasium and a well-equipped, spacious library. Mundare is unique because of its student-focused approach and single-graded classrooms.

Field trips, assemblies, guest speakers, and special events are scheduled throughout the year to enrich regular programming. Students, staff, and families spend time together working and having fun with school projects, potluck meals, and many family events.

Motto

Mundare School is a school of Dignity & Respect

Mission

To provide a safe and caring environment that promotes individual growth and personal success.

Beliefs

Students learn best when they:

  • feel safe and happy and are enjoying learning
  • value their work and see that it is valued by others
  • apply their learning in meaningful contexts
  • see that their efforts make a difference to themselves, to the school and to others
  • see the important people in their lives working together

We believe that an effective education is based upon a partnership between the school, the home and the community.  We encourage and are appreciative of the involvement of the home and the community in the life of the school.

Greetings from Liane Schultz, Principal of Mundare School

My name is Liane Schultz and I am very excited to work with you as the principal at Mundare School. I have been an enthusiastic educator since 1990 and believe that schools provide us all with educational and learning opportunities.

Since moving to Alberta from Saskatchewan several years ago, I have been fortunate to work in Elk Island Public Schools as both a teacher and administrator. I am familiar with the importance of schools in both rural and urban settings and understand the crucial roles that schools play within the community.

My educational philosophy is rooted in a genuine belief that all students have an opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive and welcoming environment that builds individual capacity, that fosters independence and that cultivates respect and engagement. There will be a focus on literacy and numeracy at all grade levels which is in alignment with the district's Three-Year Education Plan.

Parents and guardians, with your continued support, we can continue to work with students on academic achievement, personal and social growth and citizenship. Our door is always open.

I am looking forward to working with each of you this year in our brand-new school.

Sincerely,

Liane Schultz
